What is Savings for? By Althea Faye Apigo

I have been asking this to myself, "Why do I need to save money when there's someone who can provide the things that I need?" So why do I need to save money when my mom is there? Why do I need to control myself from spending money when I only live once? For me, it's always enjoy the present because you don't know what will happen tomorrow. As a youth, I wanted so many things in life and those things requires money. As I grow up, I realized that first thing you need is money. As I grow up, I realize that I can't let my mom provide everything for me. I realize that it's a must to save money for myself, to make myself happy.

I'm just a simple girl who wants to spend too much when in reality, I literally have no money. I've been wanting to buy those and that but I'm not that typical rich girl. Actually I am a fangirl. Fangirl who loves kpop and adore Korean boys/girls and being a fangirl requires a lot of money because if you want to buy their album, it will cost a lot. If you want to meet them and see them perform live, you need a huge amount of money to buy a concert ticket. I've been wanting to experience those, buying albums and going to concerts so there was a time that I tried to be thrifty and save money. I even make an improvise coin back so that I'll feel motivated. It somehow work but then I don't really know what happened. The money suddenly vanished! Then I realized that I'm the reason why those money suddenly vanished. I get money from the coin back from time to time to buy non sense things and I end up crying because I wasn't able to go to the concert that I'm planning to. They are here in the Philippines, the loves of my life are here finally but I wasn't able to do anything because I didn't discipline myself well, I didn't save money for my happiness so that's why. That was the first time I cried because I should have been there but I don't have anyone to blame but myself.

Now, I realized how important saving is. Saving money for yourself or for your own happiness is the best feeling like it is just so good if you have your own money to buy or to get what you want. Now, I'm starting to save up money and its real, I'm saving up now for a goo and happy future. Since I am a girl who want so many things in life, I'm starting to save up to make those things be mine. Though I'm just a student, It will help a lot to save a half of my allowance so that if I need anything, I can have it. Also saving up now will have a big help for us in the future, even if it's just a peso, it can help a lot. so let's start saving up for ourselves.
